NTPC net profit jumps 15.5 pc to Rs 3,978 cr in Q1

New Delhi, July 29 (Agency) State-run power generator NTPC on Friday reported 15.50 per cent year-on-year increase in consolidated net profit at Rs 3,977.77 crore for the quarter ending June 30, 2022. The company had posted net profit of Rs 3,443.72 crore in the April-June quarter of previous financial year. During the April-June quarter of the current financial year, NTPC’s total income stood at Rs 43,560.72 crore. In the corresponding quarter of the last fiscal, the power major had clocked the total income of Rs 30,390.60 crore. As per an official statement, NTPC generated 104.42 billion units in Q1 FY23 as compared to 85.81 billion units in Q1 FY22, an increase of 22 per cent. “NTPC coal stations achieved a plant load factor (PLF) of 80.39% as against the national average of 69.49 per cent during Q1 FY23,” it said.
The Board of Directors of the company in its meeting today approved a plan to raise funds to the tune of upto Rs 12,000 crore through private placement in domestic market.

“The Board of Directors of the Company have, subject to the approval of the shareholders, approved issue of secured/ unsecured, redeemable, taxable/ tax-free, cumulative/non-cumulative, non-convertible debentures (‘Bonds/NCDs’) up to Rs 12,000 crore in one or more tranches/series not exceeding 12 (twelve) , through private placement in domestic market during the period commencing from the date of passing of Special Resolution till completion of one year thereof or the date of next Annual General Meeting in the financial year 2023-24 whichever is earlier,” NTPC said in a regulatory filing. NTPC shares closed 1.73 per cent higher at Rs 152.95 a piece on the BSE on Friday.
