Insurance companies to transfer compensation in to farmers bank account: Sattar

New Delhi, Nov 30 (FN Agency) Maharashtra State Agriculture Minister Abdul Sattar on Tuesday given clear instructions to the insurance companies that immediately transfer the compensation amount to the bank account of the farmers who have suffered losses due to natural calamities and unseasonal rains in the state. He was speaking in a meeting with representatives of all major crop insurance companies here. Insurance companies are responsible for providing crop insurance to all eligible farmers who have paid the insurance premium under Pradhan Mantri Crop Bima Yojana and are registered to receive insurance compensation due to natural calamities and unseasonal rains. Immediately transfer the compensation amount to the bank account of the farmer. Make sure that farmers do not complain about this,Mr Sattar instructed.

Leader of Opposition in Legislative Council Ambadas Danve, Principal Secretary of Agriculture Department Eknath Dawle, Chief Statistical Officer of Agriculture Commissionerate Vinaykumar Awte among all the representatives of crop insurance were present. Mr Sattar further said that it is the responsibility of the respective insurance companies to pay the insurance compensation amount as soon as possible to the farmers who have suffered losses due to natural calamities and unseasonal rains. Despite repeated instructions, the companies do not seem to be taking swift action. Therefore, there is a lot of anger among farmers regarding insurance companies. Taking note of this, the companies should immediately pay the crop insurance amount of the farmers. He said that action will be taken against the companies which obstruct the farmers for no reason, added Mr Sattar.
