Delhi govt organises mega walk to promote Ayurveda

New Delhi, Oct 24 (Bureau) Ahead of Ayurveda Day, the Delhi Government organised an event on Sunday to remind people of the importance of walking in daily life. The event, AYURWALK, was kicked off by Health Minister Satyendar Jain in a prelude to the sixth Ayurveda Day. The participants in the event took a 4-kilometre walk from Central Park, Connaught Place to Ayurvedic & Unani Tibbia College, Karol Bagh. “In today’s comfortable lifestyle where all the work is done by robots and artificial intelligence, we do not do any kind of physical exercise.

This Ayurwalk event is a reminder that we should walk every day,” Jain said. The minister informed that the theme of this year’s Ayurveda Day is based upon the importance of nutrition. “This time the theme of Ayurveda Day has been kept as Nutrition. In Ayurveda, a lot of emphasis has been given to nutrition. Not only told about the food items, but also the methods of cooking them from the nutritional point of view. According to the nature of each person, what food will be beneficial for them has also been clarified. The timing of meals and the rules for consuming food was also included,” he said. The purpose of Ayurveda is to take care of the physical and mental well-being of a healthy person and to treat the disease of the patient, the minister added. Jain also said that Ayurveda, which is called the science of life, plays an important role in maintaining our physical well-being and disease resistance. “Ayurveda and Yoga are such disciplines, which teach you to live in a healthy and in a right way,” he added.
