Prime Minister Narendra Modi released Rs 18000 crore to more than 9 crore beneficiary farmer families on Friday as the next instalment of financial benefit under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN).
The amount was transferred directly into the bank accounts of the farmer families through video conferencing with the push of a button. Under the PM-KISAN scheme, a financial benefit of Rs 6000 a year is provided to each eligible beneficiary farmer directly into their bank accounts. Even as the farmers strike enters 28th day on Friday, the Prime Minister also interacted with farmers from several states who shared their experiences with him.
