Congress leader opposes change in reservation system

Hubballi, Feb 18 (Agency) Former minister and the Congress leader K C Putta Siddha Shetty, who is also the president, Kayaka Samaja on Thursday urged the Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa to maintain the Status Quo of the present Reservation system.

Addressing a press conference here, he said that Any change would result in serious injustice to the Backward communities, SC, ST classes, the Poor, Poorest and the downtrodden. He said that currently there are thousands of vacancies as backlogs which are not filled up. These jobs are the birthright of the backward classes. The reservation issues must always be handled by the permanent Backward Classes commission and not under the jurisdiction of any State or the Central Government.
