Lucknow, Oct 8 (Agency) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has intensified its preparation for the urban local body elections in Uttar Pradesh. A meeting of the district presidents, in-charges along with coordinators was held under the chairmanship of the state president Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary at the BJP state headquarters on Saturday in this regard. The meeting was attended by both Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya, Brijesh Pathak and state general secretary (organisation) Dharampal Singh. During the meeting it was decided that meetings at local body level on October 14 and 15 and that at the level of Shakti Kendra and wards on October 16 and 17.
Addressing the meeting state president Bhupendra said that BJP had given its best performance in Gram Panchayats, Kshetra Panchayats and Zila Panchayats last year. He said that the party had won the recently concluded assembly elections and emerged victorious.Bhupendra said that the party has to repeat its performance again in municipal elections, which are important for the party. He said that the party has expanded immensely under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and has become omniscient, omnipresent, all inclusive and all-embracing.
Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya said that though the entire opposition, including Samajwadi Party (SP), Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and Congress, are desperate, but the opposition should not be consider weak and the party should contest the urban local body elections with full preparation and hard work. Deputy CM Brijesh Pathak said that the party is facing a new challenge in the form of upcoming municipal elections, but it will write a new history with a win due to the hard work and dedication of the workers.
