Kakinada, Jun 27 (Agency) East Godavari Amalapuram Sub division police have successfully nabbed two inter-state gold chain snatchers and recovered Rs.31 lakh worth of gold chains mostly Mangala sutras, weighing 610 grams. Two motorcycles–one is stolen and another used by them for committing the offences were also seized from them.
Giving out the details of the arrest and seizure of stolen property at a press conference at the district police office here on Saturday, Superintendent of police Adnan Nayeem Asmi said that the two accused –Ethakota Srinubabu alias Pandu (39) of Janupalli and Mallavarapu Durga Prasad alias Bhanu(36) of Amalapuram were involved in as many as 19 chain snatching offences and also in theft of a motorcycle.
Their modus operandi was identifying the houses where woman were living lonely and snatching away of the gold chains including Mangala sutras from their neck and make good their escape on motorcycle, Mr Asmi said.
