Jalandhar, Jul 11 (Agency) Punjab Chief Coach Hockey Olympian Rajinder Singh (Junior) said that the involvement of parents is essential for the promotion of the game of hockey in Punjab. Newly appointed Chief Hockey Coach by the Punjab Government, Olympian Rajinder Singh (Junior) on Sunday visited village Srinah of Nakodar Tehsil to promote hockey at the grass root level as mission of hockey of Punjab government. Dronacharya Awardee Rajinder Singh (Junior) while addressing a gathering of about 200 emerging hockey players and their parents from nearby villages, said that it is good singal of reviving of hockey in this area which had been known for the hockey loving villages.
He also said that the involvement of parents is essential for the development of the game of hockey in Punjab. Olympian Rajinder Singh whose Swift car was stolen yesterday while imparting training to players, further said that in the urban areas as compared to the villages, the participation of parents towards sports and especially hockey has increased. He appealed to the parents to help in creating a better society by spending maximum time with their children in the playgrounds.
