Patna, June 22 (Agency) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday said he was pleased over the candidature of Draupadi Murmu in the presidential election to be held on July 18. Kumar said he was highly pleased that Murmu, a tribal woman, had been made the candidate for the presidential election by the NDA. Murmu, who originally belonged to Odisha, had also been Governor of Jharkhand and she performed well when assigned this important responsibility, he added.
“ Prime Minister Narendra Modi had informed me yesterday that Murmu was being made presidential candidate by NDA”, Chief Minister said and thanked Prime Minister for his gesture. He hoped that Murmu would also discharge her responsibility well as President. As it is, JD(U) president Rajeev Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh had earlier announced support of the party to the candidature of Murmu for the top post of the country.
