Naqvi resigns from union ministry

New Delhi , July 6 (Agency) Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Friday resigned as Union Minority Affair Minister , sources said. Naqvi’s resignation comes a day before his tenure as Rajya Sabha MP ends. According to sources, the Union ministers submitted their resignation letters to Prime minister Narendra Modi. According to reports, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday praised Naqvi and Singh for their contributions to the country’s development, during the cabinet meeting. Soon after the cabinet meeting, Naqvi met BJP president JP Nadda at party headquarters.

Naqvi is also Deputy leader of Rajya Sabha and a senior BJP leader and the only Muslim face in the Modi-led government. Speculations have been rife that Naqvi is likely to be among the names for the Vice-President candidate.
