Hamirpur (HP), June 27 (Representative) Members of HP new pension employees union have decided to take out a grand rally outside the state Vidhan Sabha during the current monsoon season to compel the state government to accept their demand of restoration to the old pension scheme. State President of New Pension Scheme Employees Union Pradeep Thakur said Monday that future security was being snatched away by paying Rs 500 to 700 in the name of pension. He said when pension could be given to MP’s and MLA’s why not to the employees who had spent their prime while serving for the government and the state.
The New Pension Scheme Employees Union (NPSE) has bluntly said the wastage of pension will not be tolerated. If the demand was not fulfilled in time, the state government should be ready to face the consequences. Importantly, the government has also constituted a committee, but those members who have been included in that committee were themselves taking the benefit of the old pension. This committee has not held a single meeting for the last three months, lamented Thakur. He said a pension resolution rally would be organized in every district of the state. A grand rally will be organized during the monsoon session of the Vidhan Sabha by uniting all the employees of the state. Pradeep Thakur said the Sangh had organised a state level rally in the year 2018 and 2021 at the Vidhan Sabha Bhawan Tapovan to restore the old pension.
But till date the government has not paid any heed to the demand. This caused a lot of resentment among the employees. Meanwhile, the State level Federal House of Himachal Pradesh Non Teacher Employees Federation that was held recently has demanded restoration to the old pension scheme. Ashwani Thakur of the education department employees Sangh said amongst the main demands of the Education Department were creation of 66 posts of superintendent grade-1, reinstatement of rider and reduction in promotion of senior assistants from 10 years to seven years are the decisions taken in the interest of the employees. Thakur said the employees would not sit idle and would continue to fight for their rights. He said when all non-BJP parties had pledged to restore the old pension scheme if their parties came to power, what was the hitch before the ruling BJP to make an announcement in this regard.
