New Delhi, Sep 20 (FN Agency) Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal has written to state Congress units to organise protests with ‘like minded parties’ on ‘issues affecting common man’. In a letter addressed to all state Congress presidents, Congress Legislature Party leaders, Congress General Secretaries, MPs, AICC secretaries and heads of its different departments, Venugopal asked them to organise protests across the country as decided in a meeting of 19 Opposition parties on August 20.
On August 20, shortly after the Monsoon Session of Parliament concluded after being cut short, Opposition leaders held a meeting in which is was decided that the parties will unite on issues pertaining to the common people and hold protests. Party sources said the state Congress leaders will discuss with local leaders of other parties, and hold protests. Venugopal also asked the state units to involve senior party leaders, MPs and MLAs in the protests.
The Congress General Secretary also asked them to submit their plans for protests to him. The Monsoon Session saw Opposition’s unity over issues like the Pegasus snooping controversy, Farm Laws and price rise. Several combined protests were held both inside and outside Parliament and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was seen leading the charge.
