Cong not to take part in MCD Mayoral election

New Delhi, Jan 5 (Agency) Delhi Congress president Anil Kumar Chaudhary on Thursday said that his party will not take part in MCD Mayoral election scheduled to be held on Friday. “Congress has unanimously decided to support neither the Aam Aadmi Party nor the BJP in the elections for the posts of Mayor, Deputy Mayor and Leader of the House in the MCD tomorrow, as the people of Delhi elected the Congress Councillors to raise the issues affecting them and work for their welfare, and not to fulfill the patrician agenda of AAP and BJP,” Chaudhary said in a statement.He said that Congress Councillors will walk out of the House before voting.The Delhi Congress chief said the party will fight to protect the interest of the people.The Congress won only nine seats out of the 250 Wards in the recently concluded MCD polls.
