Hyderabad, Mar 22 (Agency) In a cheering news for the state government employees, Chief Minister K.Chandrashekar Rao on Monday announced in the Legislative Assembly that they would be given a 30 per cent pay hike. Making a statement in the house, Mr Rao said that the 30 per cent fitment in the salary would be given to all the 9.17 lakh state government employees including contract and outsourcing employees.
He also announced the enhancement of retirement age of government employees from 58 to 61 years of age and the gratuity amount to be paid to the retiring employees would be enhanced from the present Rs 12 lakh to Rs.16 lakh. The Chief Minister said that promotions were already given to 80 per cent of eligible employees and the remaining employees would also be given promotions soon.
It may be mentioned that the Election Commission of India had on Sunday given its clearance to the state government to announce pay revision for its employees with a condition that “no undue publicity be given to it to gain political mileage” in view of the model code of conduct in force for the by-election to Nagarjunasagar Assembly constituency next month. The state government had requested the ECI to allow the announcement of the acceptance of the Pay Revision Commission report.
