When asked about the content portrayed on TV these days, he said, “I will call myself lucky because I started my career in the golden era of TV.
That time I used to strongly believe that TV is a medium that not only entertains but educates too. Then there came a phase in the TV industry where no message was given through the shows. But now things have again started to change, like my show ‘Tenali Rama’ came, where I played the role of ‘Tathacharya’, which I am very proud of. And now I am proud of this show, which is giving a strong message to the viewers.”On what made him say yes to the show, the 67-year-old actor said, “It’s the story and the character Dilpreet Singh Brar. When I heard the story for the first time I thought that this show will remind people of 1986 drama ‘Buniyaad’, and ‘Tamas’ (1988). Even the makers agreed with me. “He also said that he can relate alot to Dilpreet. “In my personal life similar things are happening. My son is going to Canada for higher studies, my wifeis very practical, but I am very emotional. I am feeling like Dilpreet only, that my son should come back after his studies are completed.
But i know myson will go there, study and will settle there. so I know loneliness is about to come in my life.”Pankaj, who has a glorious career of over 30 years, says his journey had a lot of ups and downs. “Yes, I have a regret too– that if I didn’t have an accident in 1992 during the shoot of ‘Sainik’, then maybe things would have been different. I had 27 films with me at that time. But this is life, many such moments come where I regret, but I forget and move on. I want to say that nothing comes easy in life,” he said. The ‘Kaatelal & Sons’ fame actor said that he looks at the character and content before signing any project. “I look at the importance of the character. I must enjoy playing the character, that’s the important thing I look at. “The story of a family from Hoshiarpur, ‘Dil Diyaan Gallaan’ explores the journey of a family where the first two generations refuse to forgive and forgetbut are forced to face their past and hopefully heal when the third-generation steps in.‘Dil Diyaan Gallaan’ airs on Sony SAB Monday to Saturday at 7.30 PM.
