New Delhi, Dec 30 (FN Representative) President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and leaders cutting across the political spectrum condoled the death of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mother Heeraba Modi on Friday.Calling Prime Minister’s mother’s journey as a symbol of “Indian ideals” the president said in a tweet that, “Shri Modi imbibed the spirit of ‘#Matradevobhav’ and the values of Hiraba in his life. I pray for the peace of the holy soul. My condolences to the family!” the president said in a tweet in Hindi”.The Vice President said the Prime Minister’s mother exemplified simplicity and sublimity reflecting the virtuosity of motherhood.“Deeply condole the death of the mother of Prime Minister Heeraben Modi. She exemplified simplicity and sublimity reflecting the virtuosity of motherhood. Pray almighty bestow eternal peace on the departed soul” he tweeted.Expressing condolences, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said a mother is the first friend and teacher of a person’s life and the pain of losing a mother is undoubtedly the biggest pain in the world. “The struggles faced by Hira Ba to nurture the family are a role model for all. Her sacrificial ascetic life will always be in our memory. The entire nation stands with Prime Minister Modi and his family in this hour of grief. The prayers of crores of people are with you. Om Shanti” he tweeted.Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also condoled the death and said today a very sad incident has happened when Prime Minister Mr@narendramodi’’s mother Heeraba passed away. I pay my tributes to him on behalf of all of you” he said. He added that, “The death of a mother leaves such a void in one’s life that is impossible to fill. I express my condolences to the Prime Minister and his entire family in this hour of grief,” Rajnath said in a tweet.
Expressing grief over the demise, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari said it was the values which Hiraben imparted to her family through a difficult life full of struggles that has given the country a leader like Modi.Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur said, “Losing a mother is one of the deepest sorrows. But her goodness, care, wisdom, and love will always be with you.”BJP party president JP Nadda also condoled the death of Prime Minister Modi’s mother and said her life will always serve as an inspiration. Her affection and commitment to truth gave the country a glorious leadership, he said.Veteran BJP leader LK Advani recalled that the prime minister often spoke about the special bond that he shared with his mother, about her simplicity and her caring persona, and said, these will always be remembered and missed by all.Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi also expressed their deep condolence over the death of PM Modi’s mother.“Deeply saddened to hear about the demise of Heeraben Modi. My heartfelt condolences to Sri @narendramodi ji on the loss of his beloved mother. Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire family in this hour of grief” Kharge said.Rahul Gandhi tweeted, “The news of the demise of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mother, Hira Ba is extremely sad. At this difficult time, I extend my deepest condolences and love to him and his family”.Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi said, “Received the sad news of the demise of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mother. Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati and Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav were among other leaders of Uttar Pradesh who condoled the loss.West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee also offered her condolences on the demise of Hiraba Modi.“Condolences to PM @narendramodi Ji on the passing away of his mother, Heeraben Modi. In this hour of grief, I hope that he and his family members find strength” she tweeted.Offering his condolences at the demise, former PM H D Devegowda said, “She was a centenarian who lived a full life, but one wishes a mother to be around, forever, to energise and anchor. May God give Modi the strength to bear the loss”.Prime Minister’s mother passed away at UN Metha Institute of Cardiology and Research Center in Ahmedabad on Friday. Her last rites were performed at a crematorium in Gandhinagar’s sector 30.
