Imams appeal not to post photos, videos of animal sacrifice on social media

New Delhi, July 8 (Representative) Ahead of the Bakr Eid, Imams of the several mosques across the country on Friday appealed to the members of the community not to post photos and videos of animal sacrifice on social media during the festival. In a joint statement issued by the Imams including Mufti Ashfaq Husain Qadri, Imam Qadri Masjid of Shastri Park, Delhi, and several others also appealed not to sacrifice animals on the streets.

“Do not sacrifice on the streets and in the open,” a statement quoted them as saying. The Imams also called upon not to sacrifice a banned animal which can hurt anyone’s feelings, and asked community members to “stay away from rumours”. “In case of any untoward incident, immediately report it to the nearest police station,” they said.

The Imams also appealed to the elder people of the society to keep an eye on the youth so that no one gets involved in any ‘wrongdoing’ by mistake. Mufti Bilal Nizami of Sunni Jama Masjid, Ratlam, Mufti Shamsuddin Barkati of Makrana, Maulana Shahid Misbahi of Hamirpur, Maulana Badruddin Misbahi Khateeb and Maulana Said of Imam Masjid Aala Hazrat Nizamia Lucknow, Maulana Syed Muhammad Qadri of Jaipur, and several other Imams from different mosques were among the signatories.
