Centre declares Rajasthan’s Mangarh hillocks as national monument

New Delhi, July 7 (Agency) The National Monuments Authority on Wednesday submitted a declaring Mangarh hillock in Rajasthan as a monument of national importance, the Union Ministry of Culture said in a statement. The report carries relevant details about the Mangarh hillock and recommendations by the monuments authority.

Minister of State for Culture Arjun Ram Meghwal said that the unsung heroes of Mangarh hillock haven’t received the importance in history which they deserved. He also said 1500 Bhil tribal freedom fighters were brutally killed by the British army there on November 17. “To pay our tribute to them , on the occasion of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav we will positively take forward the report submitted by the authority chairperson,” he added. The Union Minister also added that our younger generation is unaware of the sacrifice of Mangarh Bullock. “It will be our responsibility to highlight significance of and provide information about Mangarh Hillock,” he added.
