Bhubaneswar, Jul 14 (Representative) A special team of the Commissionerate of Police today seized 550 grams of brown sugar worth around Rs 55 lakh and Rs 34 lakh in cash from a house in Kesura area under Saheednagar Police station of Bhubaneswar. Police also seized a car and two motorcycles and arrested two persons including a woman under the NDPS Act in connection with the incident. Police Commissioner Soumendra Priyadarshi said acting on a tip-off, a police team conducted a raid and seized around 550 grams of brown sugar and Rs 34.80 lakh from the house.
However, the kingpin of the racket, the husband of the woman accused, manages to escape. Efforts are on to arrest him soon. The Police Commissioner suspected that the prime accused might have destroyed some quantity of drugs before fleeing the house. The preliminary investigation found that the accused have links to the Jaleswar area in Balasore district infamous for its illegal drug trade.
