Shahkot, Apr 18 (Representative) The Shahkot police have arrested a travel agent for allegedly duping a Shahkot resident of Rs1.56 lakh and Nakodar resident of Rs 1.20 lakh on the pretext of sending them abroad. The Station House officer (SHO) Surindar Kumar said that the accused has been identified as Pritpal Singh alias Bittu a resident of employee’s colony behind Nimmawala School, Shahkot.
SHO said Hardev Singh a resident of Dharmiwal village and Rakesh Kumar a resident of Mohalla Guru Nanak Pura Nakodar complained to Jalandhar (rural) senior superintendent of police (SSP) that they had paid Rs 1.56 Lakh and Rs 1.20 to the accused for facilitating their migration abroad. However, he neither sent them abroad nor returned the money. SHO said a case under section and 420 (cheating) and 120 –B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 13 of the Punjab Travel Professional Act has been registered against the accused and further investigation has been handed over to assistant sub inspector Lakhvir Singh.
