Hyderabad, Dec 21 (Agency) Hyderabad City Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar on Monday said that the overall crime –IPC, Special and Local Laws (SLL) cases and other than IPC in the city were reduced by 10 per cent up to December 21 in this year. Speaking at the annual press conference held at Osmania University campus here, he said that the number of cases registered under IPC, SLL and other than IPC during the year 2020 was 22,641 as against 25,187 cases in the year 2019. The number of cases registered under IPC and SLL during the year 2020 was 15,858 as against 17,187 cases in the year 2019 with a reduction of 8 per cent, he said.
The Commissioner said all bodily crimes were reduced by 26 per cent, while grave bodily crimes were reduced by 14 per cent as compared to previous year. He said crimes against women were reduced by 19 per cent . The number of cases registered in 2020 was 1,908 as against 23,54 cases in the year 2019. Crime against children was reduced by 35 per cent. The number of cases registered during the year 2020 is 221 as against 339 cases in the year 2019, the Commissioner added. Stating that there is a significant decrease in occurrence of bodily and property offences like Murders, Rape, Dacoity, Culpable Homicide, Robbery, Chain Snatchings, Robberies, House Break, Pseudo Police, thefts and other crimes, the Commissioner said the property crime detection is 58 per cent and the recovery was 66 per cent despite the fact there are vacancies of 34 per cent in Hyderabad City Police. Also the fact is that during the entire year, City Police was very busy in Law and Order duties like COVID-19, Floods, Festivals, Public meetings, Assembly and Council Sessions and General Election for GHMC – 2020, Mr Kumar said.
