CBI arrests Divisional Engineer of BSNL in alleged bribery case

New Delhi, Nov 7 (FN Agency) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Divisional Engineer (In-charge AGM) in Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) posted at Uttar Pradesh’s Orai in an alleged bribery case, the federal agency said on Tuesday. A case was registered on the basis of complaint against a Divisional Engineer (In-charge AGM) identified as Ved Prakash on the allegations of demanding bribe from Complainant.

It was further alleged that the accused demanded bribe from Complainant (a BSNL Vendor) for awarding work of installation and supply of OLT Machine; providing fiber connection to BDO Office, Dakor, Orai and also making timely payment, CBI claimed in its statement. CBI laid a trap and caught the accused while allegedly accepting bribe of Rs 20,000 from the Complainant. Searches were conducted at the premises of accused at Orai and Kanpur which led to recovery of incriminating documents including investments in properties, it said.
