CBI apprehends Jt Drug Controller in an alleged bribery case

New Delhi, June 21 (Bureau) Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) apprehended two persons including a Joint Drug Controller of (Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation) CDSCO posted at headquarters Delhi in an alleged bribery case. A case was registered against a Joint Drug Controller of CDSCO and others including Directors private companies, both based at Delhi and another at Bengaluru, Assistant Drug Inspector (ADI) of CDSCO in Delhi andunknown others, CBI in a statement said.

It was alleged that the accused was allegedly trying to exert undue influence on officers of CDSCO under Directorate General of Health Services, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (GOI), Delhi to waive the Phase III trial of ‘Insulin Aspart Injection’ CBI added. It was further alleged that the accused agreed to pay alleged bribe of Rs.9 lakh to JDC for favorably processing the said three files related to private company based at Bangalore and also for favourably recommending the file of ‘Insulin Aspart injection’ to the Subject Expert Committee (SEC) meeting, CBI statement said. CBI laid a trap wherein the JDC was caught while he was allegedly accepting bribe of Rs 4 lakh from the Director of Delhi based private company. The Director of Delhi based private company was also caught. Searches were conducted at 11 places located at Delhi, Noida, Gurugram, Patna, Bengaluru which led to recovery of incriminating documents and articles, the statement said.
