70-yr old woman arrested for duping visa seekers

New Delhi, Sep 29 (Agency) A 70-year old woman was arrested from Chandni Chowk area here for allegedly being involved in a USA visa racket. She was on the run for the last 13 years, Delhi Police said on Wednesday. According to police, the accused, identified as Kulwinder Kaur, along with her Delhi based agents were allegedly running human trafficking racket and used to get money from innocent aspirants under the pretext of securing visas for different countries. Police got a complaint from Amar Jit Singh in the year 2008, in his complaint he stated that in 2006, Kulwinder Kaur along with two others approached him and assured him that they had links with agents at New Delhi and they could help them in procuring USA visa for his son. On their assurance, Amar Jit along with accused people came to Delhi and handed over Rs 1 lakh as advance for USA visa as a deal was struck for Rs 18 lakh.

Accused people had assured him that his son would get a visa within 20 days. After some days, the accused informed Amar Jit that visa was stamped and his flight would be fixed shortly and demanded the remaining amount. On November 2, 2006, Amar Jit met the accused at a Hotel located in Paharganj and handed over the remaining Rs 17,00,000. But later on Amar Jit realised that he had been duped and accused people had fled with his money after that he logged a complaint with police that time. In this case, police had already arrested two people in the year 2010, but the third accused was on the run. Finally police nabbed her on September 28. She was produced before the court at Tis Hazari, RK Singh, Additional Commissioner of Police, Economic Offences Wing, said.
