Kakinada, Nov 2 (FN Agency) Vigilance officials along with Revenue and civil supplies officers on Wednesday, on a tip off, conducted a raid on VS Reddy son’s godowns in Toorangi village on the city outskirts on Wednesday and seized 60.42 quintals of public distribution rice (PDS). During interrogation, it was revealed that two people- Pinapothu Raju and Budamkayala Mahalakshmi have procured the PDS rice from ration card holders at a throw away price and selling the same to Ananda reddy trader.
The vigilance officials have booked a case and referred to Indrapalem police station for registering criminal case and initiate action against them. Besides the PDS rice, an auto, a motor cycle and weighing machine were also seized. Tahasildar Vijayakumar, Inspectors T. Srinivasareddy, Head constable Jeevanandam, constables Lovakumar, Eswar and officials of revenue and civil supplies took part in the raid, official sources said.
