Mumbai, May 18 (FN Agency) The BSE Sensex on Tuesday rallied further by 612.60 pts, breaching 50K level to close at 50,193.35 on the strength of Auto, Consumer Durable, Capital Goods and Industrials stocks amid strong global peers. The Nifty too gained 184.95 pts to 15,108.10. The day opened on a strong note at 49,986.68, up by 406 pts. During the day it surged 733 pts to 50,313.25, days high, before closing at 50,193.33, surging 612.60 pts from its previous close. The sensex registered days high and low at 50,313.25 and 49,959.20 pts respectively. The Nifty recorded days high and low at 15,137.25 and 15,043.70 pts respectively.
The sectoral indices that went up were Auto by 3.19 pc followed by Consumer Discretionary Goods and Services by 2.50 pc, Consumer Durable by 2.47 pc, Capital Goods by 2.33 pc and Industrials by 2.50 pc. The scrips that advanced were Tata Motors and Bajaj Auto by more than five per cent each followed by Titan and Bajaj finance by more than four percent each. The Mid Cap rose by 1.87 pc and Small Cap by 1.28 pc. In 30 scrips, 26 advanced while 4 declined.
