Mumbai, Jun 2 (FN Agency) The BSE Sensex on Wednesday tumbled down by 85.40 pts to settle at 51,849.48 as selling pressure was seen in Technology, IT and FMCG stocks. While, the Nifty rose by 1.35 pts to 15,576.20. The day opened on a negative at 51,749.10. It was dropped 484 pts to 51,450.58 days low, before closing at 51,849.48, sliding by 85.40 pts from its previous close.
The sensex registered days high and low at 51,913.92 and 51,450.58 pts respectively. The Nifty recorded days high and low at 15,597.45 and 15,459.85 pts respectively. The sectoral indices that fell were ITC by 2.83 pc to Rs 209.10, Tech Mahindra by 1.20 pc to Rs 1018, Axis Bank by 1.04 pc to Rs 737.35, Asian Paints by 0.80 pc 2909.60 and Bharti Airtel by 0.65 pc to Rs 529.45. The Mid Cap rose by 1.75 pc and Small Cap by 1.29 pc. In 30 scrips, 13 advanced while 17 declined.
