Petrol price crosses Rs 100 per litre in Delhi

New Delhi, Jul 7 (FN Agency) Petrol prices crossed the Rs 100 per litre-mark in New Delhi on Wednesday after fuel retailers raised petrol rates by 35 paise per litre and diesel by 17 paise. With the latest prices, the national capital’s petrol price recorded at Rs 100.21 per litre and diesel rates rose to Rs 89.53 a litre.

Petrol prices in other metros such as Chennai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Pune already breached the 100-mark per litre. The latest prices were issued by the Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL). Over the past month, fuel prices witnessed a hike every alternate day. While fuel rates of IOCL in Delhi are the benchmark for the entire country, retail prices of the two fuels differ from place to place because of variations in state taxes and local levies. State-run oil marketing companies have increased the frequency of hikes owing to firming international crude oil rates.
