Lucknow, Apr 10 (FN Agency) In a bid to provide better, equal and accessible education to the underprivileged and deprived sections, the Yogi Adityanath Government of Uttar Pradesh has set a new record in providing scholarships to the children belonging to SC and the minority communities. To ensure socio-economic-educational empowerment of minorities. especially girls, through ‘3Es- Education, Employment and Empowerment, the Yogi Government, in four years, has set another record in providing timely scholarships directly to the students’ accounts and has also made sure to eliminate any obstructions faced by the students in their goal of attaining education.
Officials here on Saturday said that the state government has issued scholarships worth Rs 5309 and Rs 71.49 crores to students above 10th standard belonging to the scheduled caste and scheduled tribes, respectively. Apart from this, the state Government also provided financial assistance worth Rs 109 crore to as many as 4.5 lakh students belonging to the minority communities, thereby securing their future. The scholarship aims to encourage meritorious students of economically weaker sections of the minority communities and other backward sections to pursue higher education and enhance their employability by providing financial assistance.
In yet another achievement, the state government, in four years, has set a record in providing scholarships worth Rs 391.75 crores and Rs 3.7 crores to students below 10th standard belonging to the scheduled caste and scheduled tribes, respectively, without discrimination and with utmost transparency. Besides, scholarships worth Rs 576.48 crore and Rs 4217.15 crores were also given to students below and above 10th standard belonging to other Backward Classes. Officials said scholarships worth Rs 109.6 crores were also given to as many as 4,31,730 students below 10th standard belonging to the minority communities, whereas, scholarships worth Rs 899.92 crores were provided to over 12,57,210 students above 10th standard belonging to the minority communities. With this, scholarships worth Rs 59.58 crore were issued to over 2,32,552 students below 10th standard belonging to the general category and scholarships worth Rs 2052.65 crore were provided to students above 10th standard belonging to the general category.
Atal Residential schools, where the children of the workers will study for free along with other facilities, are set to be built at each of the 18 divisional headquarters across the state. Besides, as many as 103 Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Government Ashram Vidyalaya schools are functional in the state. Over 42 Government Inter Colleges have also been constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram (PMJVK) which seeks to provide better socio economic infrastructure facilities to the minority communities particularly in the field of education, health & skill development which would further lead to lessening of the gap between the national average and the minority communities with regard to backwardness parameters.
