Three Maoists nabbed by Gumla Police with Rs 1.90 lakh collected as levy

Gumla, Apr 10 (Agency) Police have arrested three ultras near Navgai Dam and have recovered Rs 1.90 lakh collected as a levy. Briefing the press on Saturday Gumla SP HP Janardhanan said that the money was meant to be handed over to Maoist commander Budheshwar. The arrested have been identified ad Suresh Sahu, Ravi Singh and Philemon Kujur.

He said that an information had been received regarding the Maoist commander having demanded a levy of Rs 2 lakh from a construction company that was executing a canal repair work in the area. Following the information a team under Chainpur SDPO was constituted which first nabbed Suresh and Ravi who were riding on a bike to hand over the money to the commander while based on input given by them Philemon was arrested from his home.
