Tokyo, Jan 6 (Agency) World Health Organization(WHO) Director-General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. has expressed disappointment that China is yet to finalise permissions for the members of the international team of experts (constituted for studying the origins of the coronavirus) to enter the country. “Today we learned that Chinese officials have not yet finalised the necessary permissions for the team’s arrival in #China. I am very disappointed with this news given that two members had already begun their journeys & others were not able to travel at the last minute”. The investigation team would investigate the origins of the coronavirus and what transpired during the early stages of the outbreak in the country.
Dr Tedros added that he had strongly urged Chinese officials to ensure the team’s entry into their country so that the mission can start as soon as possible. “But I’ve been in contact with senior Chinese officials & I have once again made clear that the mission is a priority for WHO & the international team” he tweeted.
