Sensex down 100.42 points

Mumbai, July 5 (Agency) The BSE Sensex on Tuesday slipped 100.42 points to settle at 53,134.35 as selling was seen in IT, realty, technology and bankex stocks.The Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) too eased 24.50 points at 15,810.85. The Sensex opened higher 267 points at 53,501.21. It rallied 631 points at 53,865.93, the day’s high. Later, it dropped 180 points at 53,054.30, the day’s low, before closing at 53,134.35, sliding 100.42 points from its previous close.

The Sensex registered the day’s high and low at 53,865.93 and 53,054.30 points respectively. The Nifty recorded the day’s high and low at 16,025.75 and 15,785.45 respectively.Sectoral indices like IT, realty, technology and bankex stocks dragged the market.In scrips, ITC was a major loser, down 1.78 per cent to Rs 286.60 followed by ITC by 1.78 per cent to Rs 286.60, a major loser in the 30 scrips of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).Other losers were Wipro by 1.45 per cent to Rs 414.35, Axis Bank by 1.21 per cent to Rs 646.50, M&M by 1.20 per cent to Rs 1,078 and Maruti Suzuki by 1.10 per cent to Rs 8,347.60.

The gainers were Powergrid by 1.54 per cent to Rs 213.90, Bajaj Finserv by 1.34 per cent to Rs 11,534, Hind Unilever by 0.92 per cent to Rs 2,396.15 and Sun Pharma by 0.90 per cent to Rs 836.15. The Mid Cap fell by 0.35 pc while Small Cap rose by 0.20 pc.In 30 scrips, 11 advanced while 19 declined.In Asian Market, a reverse scene was seen as China eased by 0.04 per cent while Australia rose by 0.31 per cent, Hong Kong by 0.03 per cent and Japan increased by 1.03 per cent.
