Youth detained for threatening to blow up RSS offices

Lucknow, June 7 (Agency) A youth, who allegedly threatened to blow up Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) offices in Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka, has been detained in Tamil Nadu on the basis of information provided by the UP Anti Terror Squad (ATS), an ATS spokesman said here on Tuesday.Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP) (North) Prachi Singh said that on June 5 a person informed at Madiyaon police station in Lucknow that he received an invitation on social media to join a group.

“When he joined the group he received some messages in which it was stated that some offices of RSS will be blown up by 8 pm,” she said.The ADCP said that six places were mentioned in the messages which included four in Karnataka and two in UP. “One place Saraswati Vidya Mandir in Sector Q in Aliganj colony. Prompt action was taken and an FIR was lodged at Madiyaon police station,” she said.An ATS spokesman said that the probe agency analysed the group and identified the user of the mobile number.

“When the location of the number was traced to Tamil Nadu, the internal security branch of TN police was immediately contacted and informed about the user of the mobile number,” he said.The ATS spokesman said that the TN police has detained Raj Mohammad, a resident of Thirukokarnam in Pudukkottai district. “A joint team of Madiyaon police and ATS has also reached Pudukkottai and will quiz Raj Mohammad in detail and will take further action,” he said.
