SBI officer among 2 held in bribery case by CBI

New Delhi, Jan 16 (FN Agency) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Saturday arrested two persons, including a Sales Executive of State Bank of India (SBI), in connection with an alleged bribery case. On the basis of a complaint against a SBI employee, a case was registered against a Home Loan Sales Executive, SBI posted in Maharashtra’s Amravati and one person who allegedly working with another bank, on the allegations of demanding bribe of Rs 20,000 for processing and sanctioning of top-up loan on transfer of Home Loan Account from Equitas Small Finance Bank, Amravati to SBI, said CBI spokesperson. It was alleged that the complainant availed housing loan of Rs12 lakh from Equitas Small Finance Bank and approached the said accomplice for transfer of the loan account, who asked complainant to transfer the loan account to SBI Camp Branch.

Accordingly, the complainant applied for transfer of loan as well as for sanction of top up loan from SBI. The accused allegedly arranged for transfer of home loan account and released top up loan, said CBI. The accused allegedly visited the complainant’s house and sought an illegal gratification of Rs 20,000, for the said favour to him. Acting on the complaint, CBI laid a trap and caught the accused while accepting an alleged bribe of Rs 10,000 from the complainant as part payment. Searches were conducted at the premises of the accused, said CBI.
