Ex-AIADMK functionary arrested in job scam

Virudhunagar, Jan 16 (FN Agency) A Former AIADMK functionary, who is the younger brother of former Assembly Speaker K Kalimuthu, was arrested here on Sunday in connection with the job scam linked to former AIADMK Minister K T Rajenthra Bhalaji. Police sources said the AIADMK functionary, K. Vijaya Nallathambi was charged with receiving Rs 30 lakh from a man, promising to get a job for his nephew in State-owned Aavin through Mr Rajenthra Bhalaji. Nallathambi, who has been evading the police dragnet for the last one month, was arrested by a Special Police team from his hideout near Kovilpatti.

Cases relating to cheating, criminal breach of trust and criminal conspiracy were registered against him. As per a complaint filed by a mechanic S.Ravindran, of Sattur, Nallathambi had received Rs 30 lakh from him in installments before the Assembly elections on the promise of getting his nephew the post of manager in Aavin. Nallathambi was subsequently expelled from the party. Besides Nallathambi, Rajenthra Bhalaji, was also cited as an accused in this case. Mr Bhalaji was arrested after a three-week long search near Hassan in Karnataka and was recently released on bail by the Supreme Court. Nallathambi, in a separate complaint had claimed that he had handed over to Rajenthra Bhalaji and his assistants lakhs of rupees collected from job aspirants.
