Over Rs 85L fake currency seized; 3 held

Thane, Dec 10 (UNI) The Crime Unit V of Wagle Estate arrested three persons, including two from Chiplun of Ratnagiri, and seized from their possession counterfeit currency notes worth Rs 85.48 lakhs. The accused Sachin Gangaram Agre, 29, and Mansoor Hussain Khan, 45, are the residents of Chiplun town of Ratnagiri district while third accused Chandrakant Mahadeo Mane, 45, is from Mumbai. Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, DCP Crime Laxmikant Patil stated, “The police team led by senior Inspector Vikas Ghodke, acting on a tip-off that some persons were coming to the Kapurbawdi circle for sale of currency notes, laid a trap on Wednesday evening and nabbed the accused.” The police first arrested the accused Sachin Agre and seized from his possession the currency notes of Rs 2,000 denomination.
