Thane, Dec 8 (Representative) APMC markets at Vashi and Kalyan were totally deserted following the ‘Bharat Bandh’ call given by more than 20 parties on Tuesday. The wholesalers and traders too joined the “Bharat Bandh”. Several parties and the trader unions received a good response in the two districts of Thane and Palghar.
The otherwise buzzing market areas were adversely affected due to the closure of the shops and establishments and restricted movement of people. As the day passes, the effect of the bandh will be clearly visible and protests will be witnessed, said one of the office bearers of the co-ordinating committee and president of the Thane City unit of the INTUC Sachin Shinde.
