Chandigarh, Jun 9 (FN Agency) Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda has expressed deep concern over the unemployment rate which is spiralling in the state. He says that Haryana is consistently on top in terms of unemployment. The data of CMIE (Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy), a survey organization on unemployment, shows that every third person in the state is facing the brunt of unemployment. It is also having an adverse effect on the law and order, education and health services of the state.
Despite this, instead of providing jobs, the government is constantly engaged in retrenchment. Instead of making new recruitments, old recruitments are being canceled. Youth are getting over-aged in waiting for recruitment exams. In the name of employment, the government is carrying forward the contracting system. During our days in power, efforts were made towards eliminating this practice, but the present government is engaged in promoting it. In the name of employment through contractors, a lot of loot is being done with the youth. The Leader of Opposition said the government is denying even its own figures. Three months ago, in his budget speech, the Chief Minister had said there are 8.36 lakh unemployed in Haryana. But now they are saying that only 5 to 6 lakh are unemployed in Haryana. It is beyond comprehension how the state government gave employment to 3 lakh unemployed people during the lockdown during the Corona period, without making any new recruitment, without setting up any new industry or project .
Hooda reminded the government that the last time the clerk recruitment was conducted by the Staff Selection Commission, about 25 lakh applications were received in Haryana for it. When the recruitment was done for 18000 posts of Group-D, about 18 lakh youth had applied for it. Those who applied for class IV jobs included youth with graduate, post graduate, B.Tech qualifications. Not only this, 14,871 youths of the state had applied for recruitment to 13 posts of peons in Panipat court recently. Whereas the minimum qualification for this post was 8th pass. But for this temporary recruitment also the candidates who have done MA, MSc, M.Com had applied. It can be gauged from this how unemployment has spread in the state. Even to take the fourth class employment, the youth have to go through tremendous competition, extremely difficult written examination and complicated selection processes. The youth of the state are waiting for the process of dozens of recruitments stuck for a long time to go ahead. Excuses are cited in all cases be it corona or some other. But surprisingly, political appointments are being made in the midst of all this.
Mr Hooda said today education and health sector needs special attention. But, neither doctors nor teachers are being recruited in Haryana for the last several years. Thousands of HTET JBT pass youth are waiting for recruitment. But in the six and a half years of the BJP government, not a single recruitment has happened till date. Rising unemployment is directly related to the law and order and crime graph of the state. The more unemployment increases, the more crime will increase. The daily theft, robbery, dacoity, ransom, kidnapping, rape and murder incidents are proof of this. Therefore, instead of stealing the eyes from the ground reality, the government should step towards the solution of the problem.
