New Delhi, Jun 2 (Bureau) Delhi registered 103 deaths from COVID-19 and 576 new cases of the virus in the past 24 hours, a health bulletin said here on Wednesday. The positivity rate in the National Capital is 0.78 per cent while the fatality rate is 1.71 per cent. The peak of the positivity rate during the ongoing second wave in Delhi was 36 per cent on April 22. The active cases have come down to 9,364 as a total of 1,287 patients recovered in the past day.
The fresh cases came from a total of 73,451 tests, comprising 51,549 RT PCR/CBNAAT/True Nat and 22,102 rapid antigen tests, conducted in the last 24 hours. The total cases in Delhi have reached 14,27,439 while the death toll has surged to 24,402. As per the official data, 20,572 COVID beds are available in hospitals, 6,154 in dedicated COVID Care Centre, and 528 in dedicated COVID Health Care Centres. At the peak of the second wave in April, only 5-6 per cent of beds were vacant on many days. The health bulletin said 50,658 beneficiaries were vaccinated in the past day, which included 33,758 first dose recipients and 16,900 who were administered with a second dose. The Delhi government started vaccinating the population between 18-45 years from May 1 but fighting for vaccine doses since May 22. Delhi was placed under a six-day lockdown on April 19. It has recorded its highest single-day spike of 28,395 COVID-19 cases on April 20.
