Third waive surge Covid-19 infections among indian children;
Guidelines, Prepardness and Alertness for Government, NGO and Common Public

New Delhi, May 12 (FN Bureau) Several children are got testing positive for Covid-19 infection in Delhi-NCR as India grapples with escalating virus. New cases are emerging in the third wave of the coronavirus pandemic. Doctors across Delhi and National Capital Region (NCR) have confirmed that even newborns and infants are testing Covid-19 positive between 5-12 years are at a greater risk. In this wave symptoms in children are having diarrhea, loose motions, vomiting, lethargy, rashes, eye infection, Vacuities (Inflammation in blood vessels), Fever, Cough and stop eating and depression. Although their condition remains under control and rarely turns fatal, children are few some hospitals are around (30-40%). Mothers have to accompany their children who are showing severe symptoms of their daughter had diarrhea and her test report confirmed with Covid positive. When loose motions continued for days, parents rushed to the hospital. Children are getting prolonged cough. The doctors gave medicines and intravenous fluid for their recovering now parent should accompany their 3-12 -year- children at hospital.

As India seems an increase in the absolute number of COVID-19 cases across the country, children, including infants, are at greater risk of contracting and spreading COVID-19.With this new situation comes many questions, from parents, doctors, and scientist about protecting from and caring for children with COVID-19. Doctors recorded more than 50 pediatrics cases of Covid in one week and have required a proper set up with more bed-facility in the registered Covid centers. Current situation is indeed alarming compared to 2020 as more pediatric cases, with a younger age group emerging in this season. We cannot have drop guard. Parents should take all precautions and consult medical attention. Young girls, Covid-positive, dependent on a ventilator, also battling for their lives. Doctors said that symptoms had turned severe and required critical care in ICU. So the possibility of a “new mutant strain of coronavirus” more severe in character, making the protection dysfunctional. Last year, across the world, around 11-15 percent of children were affected. But this year, globally, we are witnessing almost 30-40 per cent of children among positive cases in India will be going to suffer. T-cell immunity, lack of ACE receptors in the nasal passage in the throat, other protective proteins doesn’t seem to work more.

Government, NGOs, public should cautious about Covid-appropriate behaviour at home, esp. by those coming from outside, is one reason for the surge. cautions against “self-medication” for children, administration of antibiotics without detailed examination and suggests immediate medical help for the child. Parents need to carefully observe a child’s symptoms. Gastrointestinal symptoms like diarrhoea and vomiting. Others are rash, conjunctivitis, vasculitis, apart from fever cough and lethargy. Delayed response into the severe symptoms can lead to Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children (MIS-C). Physicians should treat young mothers who are Covid positive and have an infant to take care of persons. There is no study yet shown that breast milk of a positive mother may spread the virus to the children. So, mothers can feed, but wear a mask at all times for safe. Also, physical distance must be maintained from the child as much as possible, when not feeding. A partner, a caregiver must assist in taking care of the child is necessary.

It is very important for lactating mothers to consult a doctor before their health worsens on priority advised by researcher Dr.Mayadhar Barik, Professor in Biochemistry, MU. Earlier, the interactions restricted to them and importantly do not to expose children to vulnerable areas/infected areas. Do not ignore symptoms are relating to gastrointestinal, rash, conjunctivitis, vacuities. Vaccination is not yet available for children, though the government has announced 18+ will be eligible to receive vaccinations from May 1 is good for public. Whereas the major precautions for kids with pregnant women and children in India remain questionable. Be honest government should take necessary action and policy maker and decision maker should take a home message and proper execution of national policy and proper distribution of emergency medicines and oxygen gases and the necessary equipments of the patients care. As a new mutant strain of virus are upcoming we need appropriate research to find out the better causal factor of third waive surge of covid-19 infections among Indian children and their treatment. Therefore new guidelines, preparedness and alertness for government, NGOs, volunteers and common public having a special need of the hour.
