Kolkata, Sept 28 (FN Agency) East Bengal FC midfielder Madih Talal urged his teammates to work harder and gave their all to turn things around after they suffered their straight defeat in the Indian Super League (ISL). Following their defeat to FC Goa at home, the Red and Gold Brigade have suffered three consecutive defeats in the ISL and haven’t won each of their last five games across all competitions. Despite delivering promising performances at times and scoring goals, Carles Cuadrat’s side has struggled to secure favorable results. The Kolkata giants succumbed to a defeat in their first home match of the season as they lost to the Gaurs in a five-goal thriller. Borja Herrera’s hat-trick helped Manolo Marquez’s men to get the better of East Bengal FC as their wait for the first ISL win of this season continues. After the match, Talal spoke to indiansuperleague.com, sharing his assessment of their game against FC Goa.
“It’s a bad result, a lot of mistakes. We have to give more because if you want to get points, we have to give more than that. That’s it,” the French midfielder remarked.East Bengal FC have conceded six goals in their opening three matches in the ISL. Despite bolstering the defensive ranks in the summer transfer window, Cuadrat’s men have struggledto keep clean sheets.Talal refrained from placing blame on anyone and urged all players to unite during this challenging time. “I will not blame the defenders, the strikers, or the coach. We are all together. We have to give more than that,” he commented. “When we don’t get results, nobody is happy, even the players. Like I said, we have to give more if we want to change this situation,” he said. Despite experiencing a tough start in the ISL 2024-25 season, Talal remained optimistic about his side turning the tide in their favour. East Bengal FC will take on Jamshedpur FC in an away clashin October followed by the Kolkata Derby against Mohun Bagan Super Giant. “We have to work to come back,” he said. “We have to work to give more than that, like I said, and be stronger,” Talal added.
