U Mumba, UP Yodha share spoils 28-28 in Pro Kabaddi League

Bengaluru, Jan 2 (Agency) U Mumba and UP Yodha played out a thriller 28-28 tie in a Pro Kabaddi League match here on Saturday. Mumba had a one-point lead at the stroke of the final minute but a mistake by their captain Fazel Atrachali helped UP to tie the match. Although Mumba’s left corner Atrachali had scored the most tackle points (15) against the tournament’s all-time highest points scorer Pardeep Narwal of UP, it was Mumba’s right corner Rinku who shined in the defence while tackling Narwal in his first attempt. Rinku picked up four tackle points in the first half, which was dominated by defenders. For UP, Sumit removed Mumba raiders who were looking for points in his left corner.

Sumit’s teammate Nitesh Kumar too joined the act. However, when UP sniffed an all out, Mumba managed to stay in the match. Both Rinku and Mohsen Maghsoudlou produced back-to-back super tackles while V Ajith produced a super raid when Mumba had just one on the mat. Eventually, Mumba led the first half by 16-13. A super tackle by Rahul Sethpal delayed the all out for Mumba and UP got it in the 6th minute of the second half to level the score 19-19. UP’s Surender Gill picked up a 3-point super raid. Soon, Narwal was substituted by UP for Shrikant Jadhav close to the 10th minute. Atrachali managed a crucial tackle on Gill and Abhishek Singh got a touch-point to give their team Mumba a lead with only a minute remaining. However, UP’s Ankit took advantage of Atrachali’s mistake and levelled the scores in the end.
