Hamirpur (HP), August 12 (Representative) Former Himachal Pradesh chief minister and senior BJP leader Prem Kumar Dhumal on Friday said that sports are necessary for mental fitness and a good physique. He said this at the closing of the Kabaddi and Volleyball championship of the Hamirpur assembly constituency. In all, 72 teams from 40 panchayats of Hamirpur Vidhan Sabha participated in this tournament that lasted for about 40 days. The tournament was organized by Him Anchal Education Welfare Society, led by Naveen Sharma, a prominent BJP leader of Hamirpur.
While addressing the youth, Dhumal said that the youth of our country was making the name of the country all over the world by winning medals in Commonwealth Games and Olympic Games and Vikas Thakur of Hamirpur brought laurels to the state and the country by winning a silver medal for the country in Commonwealth Games. Prem Kumar Dhumal said that this is a commendable initiative of Naveen Sharma, President of Him Anchal Education Welfare Society, which will make the youth fit and the country will be a hit. Naveen Sharma, President of Him Anchal Education Welfare Society and State Coordinator of Himachal Pradesh Skill Development Corporation said that the country was setting new dimensions in the field of sports and that local MP-cum-Union Sports Minister; Anurag Thakur was taking a lot of pains.
The final match of Kabaddi was held between Ukhli and Hamirpur in which the winning team Hamirpur was honored by giving 31,000 cash prizes to the winning team and 21,000 cash prizes to the runner-up team. Similarly, in the final match volleyball was awarded to Nalti and Khagal teams. In which the Nalti team was the winner and the Khagal team was the runner-up, in this also the winning team was awarded by giving 31 thousand and the runner-up team 21 thousand.
