Dubai, Nov 22 (Agency) The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) on Friday struck a historic deal with Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI), granting the broadcaster exclusive media rights for ACC tournaments from 2024 to 2031 in a partnership valued over 70% higher than the previous cycle, highlighting the surging global popularity of Asian cricket. The agreement covers all editions of the Men’s and Women’s Asia Cups, Men’s and Women’s Under-19 Asia Cups, and the Men’s and Women’s Emerging Teams Asia Cups. The collaboration promises comprehensive coverage of Asian cricket’s marquee tournaments across television, digital, and audio platforms, enhancing the viewing experience for cricket enthusiasts.
ACC President Jay Shah highlighted the importance of the partnership in driving the growth of cricket across the continent. “This Media Rights deal is a significant milestone for the ACC and cricket in Asia. With SPNI as our media partner, we are confident in delivering worldclass coverage while channeling significant resources into grassroots programs, infrastructure development, and talent pathways,” Shah said. He added that the substantial increase in rights value would benefit all member nations, particularly associate members, ensuring the sport’s vibrant future in the region. Expressing his enthusiasm, SPNI MD & CEO Gaurav Banerjee said, “We are thrilled to bring these action-packed tournaments, including India-Pakistan clashes, to our viewers over the next eight years.
