Cairo, March 1 (Agency) Indian shooting prodigy Saurabh Chaudhary on Tuesday clinched a gold medal in the Men’s 10M Air Pistol beating Michael Schwald of Germany 16-6 here. In the medal final, Saurabh finished on top with 42.5 and the German shooter came second with 41.5 points.
Artem Chernousov of Russia took a bronze with 40 points in the finals. In the qualification, Saurabh tied a score of 584 with Vadim Mukhametyanov (Russia) to finish third and booked a spot in the semifinal 1. The top eight shooters from qualifications made the cut in the semifinal round. After the qualification round, Saurabh, Chernousov, Emils Vasermanis (Latvia) and Robin Walter (Germany) qualified for the semifinal 1. Schwald, Ruslan Lunev (Azerbaijan), Mukhametyanov and Ismail Keles of Turkey qualified for semifinal 2. In semifinal 1, Saurabh and Chernousov scored 38 points and finished in the top two to qualify for the medal match. In semifinal 2, Schwald and Lunev were the top two scorers with 37.5 each to progress to the medal match.
