Jammu, Dec 17 (Agency) FIT India Cycling Tuesdays Campaign was launched in Jammu and Srinagar on Tuesday under the aegis of STC Jammu to propagate the message of pedalling to Fit, clean, and disease-free India.The initiative aims at sensitising the masses to shun vehicles and use only cycles to commute on Tuesdays to reduce the rising pollution levels and also to attain fitness, read a communique. It further read that in Jammu, 35 riders including men, women, and children participated in the event that was flagged off by Dr. Sushil Sharma HoD Cardiology Government Medical College Jammu and a celebrated fitness enthusiast of the city. Aman Sharma, CIC STC Jammu explained the purpose and the objective of the event.
The participants thanked the PM and Union Minister of Sports for their vision towards building a healthier India. They also thanked SAI for organising the event to propagate their vision. The participants were given souvenir caps and certificates of participation. Prominent among those present on the occasion included SS Gill, General Secretary J&K Cycling Association, Anil Kumar Sharma, Director NIC, Sudhir Anand, leading fitness icon, and Coaches and staff of SAI STC Jammu.In Srinagar, it read that 15 Cyclists hit the road amid biting chill to propagate the message of Fitness through the ‘Cycling Tuesdays’ campaign. Mohd. Akbar, the leading biker of the state flagged off the cyclists on Srinagar-Gulmarg Road. The participants expressed their gratitude to the PM and Minister of Sports for launching such a campaign in Kashmir to sensitize the masses towards health and fitness. The cyclists were given participation certificates and Souvenir caps on the occasion.
