Hyderabad, Nov 24 (Agency) Rotary Club of Hyderabad Centennial will organize a two-day unique and a first of its kind inter Academy/ Club Badminton Team championship -2022 from December 24.It will be organised to raise Rs six lakh to perform 100 Cataract Eye surgeries for the underprivileged, the Club said in a release here on Thursday. The tagline for the championship is “Smash it for a cause” and it is an inter Badminton Academies and Privilege Clubs tournament being organised for the first time in the city. The tournament is open to all above 30 years and it will be held at RRC Sports Complex, Secunderabad.The Championship is supported by Vishwanmanya Badminton Academy. Hyderabad city has well over 200 badminton academies and over 15 privileged clubs. All the players in these organizations play individually in their organizations.
This Inter Academy / Club Badminton Team championship -2022 is planned to interact, share and care for the underprivileged. A total of 32 Teams will be participating in the tournament.Each team consists of 5 Category Men’s Doubles (Age of total of two participants have to be above 65 years, 70 years, 80 years, 90 years and 100 years). So the Categories are 65+, 70+, 80+, 90+ and 100+. This is a unique format in the sense two players have to be one younger and the other elder, which is a unique combination. The game shall be played with the Feather Shuttle.About 32 Teams with a format of League and Knockout while in league Matches 15 Points Best of 3 and Knockout matches 21 Points Best of 3.Rs.1 lakh plus a Rolling trophy will be given to the Winner team while Rs. 50,000 plus a Trophy will be given to the Runner up the team. All the participants will get Participation Certificates and Medals.
