Mohali, March 1 (Agency) India Vice Captain Jasprit Bumrah on Tuesday said spinster Ravichandran Ashwin is shaping up well and looking ‘comfortable during training’ ahead of the first Test against Sri Lanka, beginning from March 4. “Ashwin is shaping well. I am not aware of any complaints, but he looked good. He looked very comfortable in training today. He did everything – bowling, batting and fielding. So, I think he is shaping up really well. He plays a very important role whenever he plays.
So, his role will be very important and hopefully there would be no trouble,” the pacer said in a virtual press conference. The ace Indian spinner missed the recent ODI series against West Indies at home and three-match T20I tie against Sri Lanka due to the injury. Asked about being captain Rohit Sharma’s deputy, Bumrah said he would try to help him in whatever capacity he can. Asked about the team combination, Bumrah said it was too early to talk about it. “Yes, we just had a look at the track. But it is very early to think about the combination. Still there are three days to go the game. So, there could be lot of changes later on. Right now, we have not had a combination in our mind,” he said.
