Bengaluru, Sep 4 (UNI) In a major setback for Team A, India’s pace spearhead Prasidh Krishna has been ruled out of their opening Duleep Trophy 2024 fixture due to ongoing injury concerns. Scheduled to start on September 5, the tournament has already seen several big names in the squads, including Prasidh, who was set to play under the leadership of Shubman Gill. According to Gill. the 28-year-old fast bowler is still recovering from a left quadriceps injury he sustained in February during the Ranji Trophy match between Karnataka and Gujarat. “Unfortunately, Prasidh will not be playing in the first Duleep Trophy match,:” Gill said in a press conference on the eve of the 4-day match at Chinnaswamy stadium.
The injury has kept him sidelined since, forcing him to miss several crucial fixtures, and no replacement has been named yet.Prasidh, known for his valuable contributions in India’s limited-overs setup, has claimed 29 wickets in 17 ODI matches with an economy rate of 5.60 and eight wickets in five T20Is at an average of 27.50. His last international appearance came during India’s tour of South Africa, where he played the second Test in Cape Town. Prasidh’s absence is expected to significantly impact Team A’s plans for the tournament opener, leaving them to adjust their strategy without their key pacer.
