Noted Football commentator Novy Kapadia passes away

New Delhi, Nov 18 (Representative) Noted Football commentator and former Delhi University professor Novy Kapadia passed away after a prolonged illness here on Thursday. He was 68. Mr Kapadia used to share his football views on Doordarshan and other TV channels. He had also been associated with some football clubs in Delhi. In the seventies and eighties, he played as mid-fielder for the Hindu Old Boys and Ashoka Club. Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur expressed grief over the demise of the celebrated football commentator.

“My deepest condolences to the football and media fraternities on the passing of the legendary Sh Novy Kapadia. His knowledge of football was exemplary and his legacy will be alive through his books. May his soul find eternal peace,” Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Anurag Thakur said in a tweet. “We are saddened by the demise of Novy Kapadia, eminent journalist, commentator, and football pundit. May his contribution shine through everyone he has touched through his coverage of #IndianFootbal,” the All India Football Federation, he said in a tweet. Besides, politicians, sports personalities and many football clubs also expressed their condolences over the demise of Novy Kapadia.
